Take Back Your Peace
Jul 25, 2022Gain Back Your Peace
How often are our minds disturbed by distractions, work, business and so much more. “Where is my tranquility?” We ask. It’s so easy to lose sight of our peace when we have so much stuff to do and so much to think about. Have you ever wondered what life would be like if you snatched your peace back? I found myself in a season of sleeplessness and tiredness. It not only began to not only interrupt my life but snatch my peace. In this month we are pursuing, right? Well, it would only be right that in maintaining a healthy spiritual diet we pursue peace? I knew my spiritual diet became unbalanced when I constantly felt so much dis-ease and inner conflict. I didn’t know I had the authority to take my peace back. I am so glad I decided to switch to a lifestyle of pursuing peace.
The Purpose of Peace..
For starters, what even is peace you ask? Peace is that amazing feeling you get when you get a good cup of tea or ice cream and sit by the window and RELAX! If you haven’t done that you’re missing out (big time). Peace is an inherited gift that we receive as children of God. When we walk with Christ he says we can “Cast all out cares on him because he cares for us.” (1 Peter 5:7) The bible literally says when we come to him he WANTS and BECKONS us to release our burdens unto him so that we can take his yoke which is easy and his burden that is light. (Matthew 11:18-20) God does not desire for you to be without peace. If you are in a situation where your peace is constantly being robbed, that is NOT Christ!! Decree this with me, “Peace belongs to me!” In seasons of what seemed like unbearable warfare, I had to remind myself of that very phrase and create strategic plans to constantly renew my mind on peace.
What is Robbing Your Peace?
- What do you find constantly distracting you?
Are there certain distractions that are keeping you up at night? Are you focused on a certain situation all throughout the day? What is on your mind more than God? Often times we allow the things of this world to easily rob us of our peace and we get distracted. If the devil can’t desert you from God, he’ll attempt to distract you. Many times we don’t even realize the things we are focusing on we haven’t given to God and they become an idol thought in our mind that literally robs us of our peace. The Bible says that we are to think on pure, lovely, noble, and good things (Philippians 4:8) The things you think about should be drawing you closer to God. When you think about good things, things that are worthy of praise you drawback to God, but when you think about situations that are negative constantly we are drawn closer to despair and anxiety. And we all know God has not given us the spirit of fear but of love, power, and what else? A SOUND MIND!! God has given us peace. Declare with me again, Peace belongs to me!
- Have you brought your situation to Christ?
Did you pray? I’ll ask that again, DID YOU PRAY man or woman of God? Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) How do we expect to attain peace without laying our burdens at His feet? If peace comes from him, yet we don’t run to him what are we doing. The Bible says, “Come to me all ye heavy laden and I will give you rest” if we aren’t coming to Christ how do we expect to see change. He is the ruler of peace, we attain peace through being His. Ephesians 2:14 says it like this, “ For He Himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh dividing wall of hostility.” The bible also says, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God.” God wants you to bring every burden to him that he may bring you peace. When you find conflict and warfare coming against you step 1 is ALWAYS bring it to Christ.
- Is your mind being renewed on peace?
So, you’ve brought your situation to Christ, now how are you maintaining your peace? We are transformed by the renewal of our mind so if we constantly think about those things that are lovely and pure and worthy of praise, peace will become a daily lifestyle for us to live in. What are you digesting on a regular basis? The music that you listen to, the movies, the shows all can interfere with your peace. I know when I switched from secular music to gospel music and worship songs the trajectory of my mind changed. I constantly was feeding myself declarations in my music of who God is which seemed to make me worry less about what my situation was. Whatever you renew your mind on will affect your mindset about peace.
- Are You Strategizing to avoid being overwhelmed, or overworked?
Planners are very useful. They help you maintain order throughout your week. They are a reminder and checklist for what you have to get done. You can use a planner at any point in your life to avoid a lack of preparation which leads to stress. Planners don’t have an age restriction on them. For school, work, chores, church, and so many more things. Planners are so helpful, they help by keeping you organized and keeping you on a time schedule. When you have a planner, you can easily check off things you need to do so that you may feel accomplished and motivated to continue. They also keep you accountable. I used a planner in school which alleviated the stress and anxiety of school. I was getting the highest grades I’ve ever gotten when using a planner. That’s my testimony. I was at peace when I was prepared. You’ve heard how good it is to have a planner so what are you doing? Go get yourself a planner. You won’t regret it. Oh, and did I mention you can customize your planner that it may fit your personal style? Don’t waste any more time stressing, prepared people are peace-filled people.
